David Clausnitzer David Clausnitzer has been performing for over 35 years, and he
is an active musician in Hawaii, playing trumpet, flugelhorn, and piano
at a variety of venues. He performs with the Olliephonic Horns, Kamuela Philharmonic Orchestra, the Good Times Jazz Band, the Manzaneros salsa band, and a variety of jazz and other ensembles.
David received his B.A. in music from Rutgers University in 1975. He then supported himself in the New York metropolitan area by teaching trumpet and piano and by playing a variety of music, including jazz, big band, salsa, polkas, and classical. David also played with The Four Tops, Little Anthony and the Imperials, and the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra. David's fun musical highlights include: playing Dixieland jazz at Yankee Stadium, dressed in a baseball uniform; playing marches in an amusement park, dressed as a giant chicken; and playing oompah music in a psychiatric hospital while wearing knickers. David earned his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in his late 40s, and now works for the Federal government as a field ecologist based in Waimea. He lives in Waimea on the Big Island with his wife Kathy Shears.
